Katalin Varga will be shown by Louth Film Club at the Playhouse Cinema in Louth on Monday.
Directed by British filmmaker Peter Strickland, Katalin Varga was magnificently photographed in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains and won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
Set in the present day, the film’s story and the landscape make it timeless.
Hilda Péter gives a stunning performance of a young woman out for revenge. Accompanied by her son, she is out to find and punish the two men who have abused her.
The subtitled film is a Certificate 15 and is the last film in the Club’s current season.
It starts at 7.30pm and non-members are welcome. Tickets are £5.90 or £4.70 for concessions with members paying £3.50.
The new programma, from February to January 2013 is available free from Off The Beaten Tracks record shop in Aswell Street, Louth.
Programmes and membership forms are also available at the Playhouse Cinema, and if you arrive in good time on the night you can sign up there and immediately take advantage of the cheaper ticket price. Alternatively, you can call 01507 607677 to join before the night.
